ADB Approves Major Irrigation Project in Nepal

This initiative is set to transform agricultural practices in the Rautahat and Sarlahi districts of Madhesh Province, where farmers have long struggled with inconsistent water supply.

Financing Details

On October 7, 2024, ADB announced a total funding of $125 million, which includes a $110 million concessional loan and a $15 million grant from the Asian Development Fund. This financial support is targeted at providing sustainable solutions to increase year-round access to irrigation water, thus addressing the pressing needs of local farmers who depend heavily on agriculture for their livelihoods.
