High-Level Expert Group kick-starts work to support sustainable finance in low and middle-income countries
Strengthen the sustainable finance in low and middle-income countries: this is the mission of the High-Level Expert Group (HLEG) which met yesterday in Brussels for the first time, to kick-start a reflection on the challenges and opportunities of sustainable investments in partner countries.
Global Gateway at the core of the mission
At a historical time period when multiple global crises – such as the high-level of inflation, the war in Ukraine, and the hard theme of the energy supply – are taking a heavy toll on the economy all over the world, it is fundamental to help low and middle-income countries to access finance for their sustainable infrastructure projects.
This is in line with the Global Gateway, a new European strategy sustained both by the EU institutions and by EU Member states, which, between 2021 and 2027 will mobilise up to €300 million of investments to boost smart, clean and secure links in digital, energy and transport sectors and to strengthen health, ed
