EIB published the overview of these investments for 2022.

The European investments bank (EIB) published an overview of its investments for 2022 in a sustainable “blue economy” and initiatives suited to reduce pollution and preserve the oceans and its marine biodiversity and ecosystem.

What is blue economy?

Blue economy is the economic sectors that have a direct or indirect link to the oceans, and those supported by EIB include:
- sustainable seafood production;
- marine transport;
- shipbuilding;
- coastal management and resilience;
- coastal tourism;
- biotechnology;
- stormwater management;
- wastewater treatment;
- solid waste management;
- research
