Environment, 816.5 million euros from the EU to protect the ocean

The list of 39 commitments for action for 2023 was presented by the European Commission at the Our Ocean Conference, a pivotal moment when countries around the world, civil society and businesses commit to take meaningful action to protect the oceans.

To achieve these goals, therefore, Europe has committed an amount of 816.5 million euros, one of the highest amounts ever announced by the EU since the start of these conferences in 2014. "This year, louder than ever, we confirm our strong commitment to protect, restore and take care of the ocean with a number of actions worth more than 800 million euros" said Virginijus Sinkevičius, Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries.
