The European Parliament and the Council have reached a new agreement to increase the maritime transport sector's contribution to reaching the EU-wide target of climate neutrality by 2050.
Co-legislators have agreed on FuelEU Maritime, a measure that will help decarbonise the maritime transport sector by setting maximum limits on the yearly greenhouse gas intensity produced by a ship.
