Session at Wikimedia Hackathon 2019 - Credits: WikimediaThe European Commission has announced that the Digital Education Hackaton will be again part of the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027. A new call for tenders will contribute to give support to grassroots innovation and contribute to the goals of the Digital Education Cluster.

 The Digital education action plan in short

The Plan (2021-2027) is a renewed European Union policy initiative that sets out a common vision of high-quality, inclusive and accessible digital education, and aims to support the adaptation of the education and training systems of Member States to the digital age.

Moreover, it aims for greater cooperation at European level on digital education to address the challenges and opportunities of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to present opportunities for policymakers, teachers, students and researchers on national, EU and international level. In particular, the recently launched call for tenders will give the selected applicant the possibility to design, implement and comprehensively evaluate the next three editions of the hackathon (in 2023, 2024 and 2025).

Objectives

The tender will be organised in order to conclude a service contract for the further development and enhancement of the digital education hackathon. These are its general goals:

  • Managing expanding and engaging its community;

  • Supporting the dissemination and implementation of good solutions;

  • Linking the initiative with the digital education cluster.

 Budget, award criteria and deadline

 The maximum budget for services of the call is of 2 million euros for a contractual period of 42 months. The period cannot be extended.

Tenders will be evaluated on the basis of the following award criteria and their weighting:

  • Price 30%. The price considered for evaluation will be the total price of the tender, covering all the requirements set out in the tender specifications.
  • Quality 70%. The quality of the tender will be evaluated based on the following criteria: The maximum total quality score is 100 points. Tenders must score minimum 50% for each criterion, and minimum 70 % in total. Tenders that do not reach the minimum quality level(s) will be rejected and will not be further evaluated and will not be ranked.

The call for tenders deadline is on 15 September at 12:30.
