EMN France National Conference 2024
The EMN France national conference titled ‘Integration of third-country nationals through teaching of host country values and civic training’ aims to highlight the key findings of the EMN - OECD inform. The conference will discuss the situation in France and selected EMN Member and Observer Countries.
Effective integration of migrants into the host society is a key challenge and a precondition to successful migration management for EMN Member and Observer Countries. National governments have primary responsibility for the development and implementation of social and integration policies, with the EU playing a key support role through funding, developing guidance, and fostering relevant partnerships.
The EMN, in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), has published an inform on the ‘Implementation of measures for civic training as an important tool for integration of third-country nationals’. This inform provides an overview of civic training schemes/programmes for third-country nationals in EMN Member and Observer Countries, and in non-EU OECD countries.
The conference will feature three panels: (1) Educational approaches in teaching the host country’s citizenship values, (2) Focus on structured civic training courses, and (3) Assessing knowledge and introducing a civics test: issues and procedures.
