AI Act: ready to negotiate the first rules on Artificial Intelligence

Photo Credit: Pexels - ThisIsEngineeringYesterday the European Parliament adopted its negotiating position on transparency and risk-management rules for AI systems to ensure a human-centric and ethical development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Europe.

With 499 votes in favour, 28 against and 93 abstentions the European Parliament adopted its negotiating position on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act, ahead of talks with EU member states on the final shape of the law. The draft mandate was adopted last month by the Internal Market Committee (IMCO) and the Civil Liberties Committee (LIBE). 

"We want the content that is produced by AI to be recognizable as such, and we want deepfake not to poison our democracy" said co-rapporteur Brando Benifei (S&D) after the vote.
